What the app stores
MoneyPlain stores the transactions, bills, invoices, pots, preferences, notes and receipt attachments you choose to enter. Financial records and original attachments are encrypted on your device using a key stored in the device Keychain. Basic preferences such as onboarding and app-lock settings use system preferences.
What stays on your device
The current version processes financial calculations, explanations and document recognition on-device. It has no bank connection, cloud account, remote AI provider, advertising SDK or analytics SDK. MoneyPlain does not transmit your financial records to a developer-operated server.
Apple services
Apple handles App Store purchases, subscription billing, device authentication and system permissions. Local reminders are scheduled with iOS. If you enable names and amounts in reminders, those details may appear on your lock screen according to your notification settings.
Exports and backups
The encrypted local store is excluded from device backups because its key is tied to the device. When you export transactions, you create a readable CSV at a destination you choose. That destination may be a cloud service. You control those copies and should protect or delete them separately. CSV export does not include every app record or original receipt attachment.
Deletion and retention
Your records remain locally until you delete them. More → Privacy & security lets you delete local data, including saved receipt attachments. This does not delete exported copies, cancel Apple subscriptions or represent forensic secure erasure. The encryption key may remain in the device Keychain.
Optional permissions
Camera access is requested for scanning. Selected photos and imported files are used for the task you choose. You inspect extracted values before saving them. Device authentication and notifications are optional, and you can manage permissions in iOS Settings.
Support
If you contact support, the information you voluntarily send is handled through that contact channel. Support is available through GitHub Issues. Issues are public: share only non-sensitive technical details. GitHub processes account and website information under its privacy statement. Support issues remain in the repository until removed; contact the maintainer through your issue for correction or removal requests. This policy page is hosted by GitHub Pages; GitHub may process visitor IP addresses and request logs to provide that service. Do not send passwords or unredacted statements.
Future changes
Any future cloud sync or cloud-AI service requires updated disclosures that explain what is transmitted, to whom and why. This notice must be reviewed before such a service is enabled.
